This page provides key information for parents and carers about our upcoming PGL Paris and Disneyland trip. It outlines the travel arrangements, accommodation, programme, supervision, welfare and safety measures in place to ensure a safe, well-organised and enjoyable international experience for all young people. This information is intended to be read alongside the parent meeting led by your section leadership team, where further details will be shared and questions can be asked.
What time do we need to arrive on departure day, and when will we return?
Departure is early morning (likely around 3:00am). Return is expected Sunday evening, approximately 7:00–8:00pm.
Where is drop-off and pick-up?
Drop-off will be at Wardle Scout HQ. Return will be to Wardle Scout HQ or Wardle Academy (to be confirmed).
What travel arrangements are in place and how often will there be stops?
Travel is by coach and ferry. Regular comfort and meal stops are planned, with toilet access checked before departure.
Does my child need their own passport and GHIC card?
Yes. All young people must have their own valid passport and are strongly advised to have a GHIC card.
Will leaders hold passports during the trip?
Yes. Passports will be collected after border control and held securely by leaders.
Where will the young people be staying and how are rooms allocated?
At PGL Chateau de Grande Romaine. Dormitory rooms (up to 4 beds), allocated by section and age, and single-sex where required.
What is the daily programme, including Paris and Disneyland?
Day 1: Travel and evening activities
Day 2: Paris (Eiffel Tower and Seine boat trip)
Day 3: Full day at Disneyland Paris
Day 4: Travel home
How much time will be spent at Disneyland?
One full day, including evening fireworks.
What supervision and adult-to-young-person ratios are in place?
Scout Association minimum ratios are met or exceeded at all times, with additional adults for higher-risk activities.
Will any young people be allowed free time without a leader?
Only Scouts and Explorers, and only in small, agreed groups with clear boundaries and check-in arrangements.
How do leaders manage large crowds and prevent young people getting lost?
Small groups, registers, frequent headcounts, high-visibility vests, group meeting points, and clear lost-person procedures.
How is medication managed and who administers it?
All medication is held and administered by designated leaders. Controlled medication must be handed in at departure.
What happens if my child becomes unwell or injured?
Qualified first aiders are present. If needed, local medical services will be used and parents contacted via In Touch procedures.
How are dietary requirements and allergies catered for?
PGL has been informed of all dietary needs and allergies. Allergies requiring Epipens are managed by leaders and individuals.
What food is provided and will my child need spending money?
All main meals are provided while staying at PGL. At Disneyland Paris, a McDonald’s Happy Meal is included for each young person; if this is not sufficient, they will need to use their own spending money to purchase additional food. On the return journey, young people will need to buy their own meal (e.g. Greggs or a service-station meal deal), so spending money will be required for this

What kit does my child need to bring?
