About Sam Townsend

Section Leader (Scouts)
District Youth Commissioner
County Youth Commissioner

I began my time in Scouting as a Beaver in 2009 at Wardle Scout Group. Whilst being a member of the Group, I progressed through Cubs, Scouts and left Explorers slightly early in 2019 (due to COVID-19).

After taking a short break from Scouting, I decided to volunteer as an Occasional Helper with Scouts for a weekend camp in 2021. Since then, I have become an Assistant Section Leader and enjoy the weekly meetings as well as any camps/events we organise.

Joining back as a Leader has given me skills I wouldn’t necessarily gain outside of Scouting and I have been given the opportunity to work towards the King’s Scout Award after the completion of my Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
