From Saturday 1st April to Sunday 2nd April 2023, seven of our Explorers participated in their Chief Scout Gold and Platinum Expedition. The expedition involved cycling a total of over 50 miles over the course of two days, with the route taking them from Wardle Scout Group HQ to Bradley Wood Scout Campsite, where they camped overnight, and then back to Littleborough, where they finished their journey.

This expedition completed their Chief Scout award, an award which all Scouts and Explorers aspire to complete.

The Explorers had to plan their route carefully, ensuring that it was safe and achievable for their level of fitness and experience. They also had to make sure that their bikes were in good condition and suitable for the journey ahead. This involved checking tire pressure, brakes and gears, and ensuring any necessary repairs were made.

In addition to the physical challenge of cycling the distance, the Explorers also had to pack all of their necessary supplies, including clothes, camping gear, and food,

Through the expedition, the Explorers worked as a team, supporting each other and encouraging one another through the challenging moments. They also took the opportunity to enjoy being outdoors in the fresh air.

The seven Explorers who completed this expedition should be proud of their achievements and the valuable skills and experience they gained along the way.
