SUMMARY:Remembrance Sunday
DESCRIPTION:The annual rememberance parade will take place in Wardle on Sunday 10th November. We will meet in the Scout HQ at 2pm (it will be difficult to get up into the village square after this time). Wardle Road normally closes to vehicles around 13:30). \nHere is the timescale for the event: \n2pm Meet Scout HQ  \n2:20 parade assembles \n2:30 Parade sets off \n3:00 arrive at Wardle Cenotaph \n3:30 set off back \n4pm parade dismiss \nSmart uniform with layers underneath. Navy activity trousers are a most practical part of our uniform but if your scout does not own a pair\, smart navy or black trousers can be worn. If it’s raining then navy waterproof jacket and pants are the most suitable to keep the young people dry.  The parade gives the young people the opportunity to remember those who gave their lives or were injured in conflict to give us the opportunities we have in our own lives. \nTo ensure the safety of all those taking part in the parade please ensure that you don’t cross in the path of the parade whilst we are walking. Parents are invited to walk on the outside of our parade lines but please don’t crowd the young people in the parade.  Te purpose of parent’s being on our outside is to protect the young people from the crowd of people \nWe take a group photo at the end of the parade and need to ensure the young people in our care are safe at all times so please don’t take your child out of the parade whilst we are walking as we have no way of tracking who has done this and who should still be with us.

SUMMARY:St George's Day
DESCRIPTION:Dear Parent/Carer\, \nSt George is the patron saint of Scouting Worldwide and England.  On this day\, Scouts have traditionally met to renew their promise and paraded through the streets of their town.  This is becoming harder to do and less safe.  This year our Scout District (Pennine district) are holding a parade within the grounds of Rochdale AFC’s Crown Oil Arena for all of the members of Scouting in Rochdale\, Heywood and Middleton.  The Scout Group would be very proud if you would join us for this. \nYoung people may be dropped off and picked up or you may stay to take photos and absorb the atmosphere of what will surely be an event that will last long in your memories. As you will see from the parent’s pack attached\, parent’s will be seated in their own part of the arena – this is for Safeguarding purposes. \nArrival: between 12:30 and 13:00 \nStart: 13:30 start \nParade: 15:00 \nDismiss: 15:45 – young people released to the care of their parents/carers after this time from the Stadium Car Park \nThe timings represent the best estimates of the organisers but may be subject to change due to the large amount of people likely to attend. \nPlease note\, you will not be able to park in the Stadium Car Park. There are a small number of spaces at Oulder Hill School but you are encouraged to use street parking (similar to a match day). \nIt would be great to see the young people in full uniform with smart shoes and ironed neckers. \nSection leader may ask for a number of parent helpers to stay with the section\, depending on numbers.  Please respond to any requests directly from your section leader. Flags will be paraded and hopefully lots of photos will be taken.  Attendance at the promise renewal will count towards the World Challenge Award for all sections. \nI look forward to being proud to see all of our members in attendance. \nRegards\, \nAkela\nNorma Brandon\nGroup Scout Leader\n17th Rochdale 1st Wardle Scout Group\n12thA Rochdale Smithybridge Scout Group \nPennine District St Georges Day – Parents Pack
